When is ABA Used?
ABA helps the individual receiving services learn new skills, improve social interactions, and maintain positive behaviors, while minimizing negative behaviors. ABA also helps transfer behaviors and skills from one situation to another. ABA can also help aging adults cope with the losses that come with age, like memory and relationships. For all ages and populations, ABA can help individuals manage a variety of needs that can impact day-to-day activities and overall quality of life.

How does ABA Work?
ABA takes a research approach to therapy based on proven theories of learning and understanding functions of behavior (why certain behaviors occur). Behavior Analysts who use ABA understand how human behaviors are learned and how they can be changed over time. Behavior Analysts evaluate an individual’s behavior and develops treatment plans to help improve the targeted behavior skills necessary for success. Behavior Analysts can also provide training to parents, caregivers, and teachers on how to implement ABA principles, procedures, and treatment plans. To ensure behavior change maintains, ABA treatment requires continuous monitoring of progress through data collection and ongoing evaluation of behavior change over time. Behavior Analysts have been successful in treating clients across various settings such as schools, homes, and community centers to improve quality of life.
